Below is a sampling of programs that NSBE has to offer: A Walk for Education (AWFE) This program is an international effort to encourage and promote math and science education within underrepresented groups. During AWFE, members go into neighborhoods to promote the value of education –especially math & science education- for secondary and post secondary students. AWFE serves to promote the T.O.R.C.H projects in cities across membership locations, including our partnership with Intel at the Intel Clubhouses. Educational goodie bags will provide info about the closest available NSBE T.O.R.C.H center learning opportunities. The Achievers Plus program is implemented directly at the chapter level via
The program will expand to include online tutoring and will also include research tools that are so critical to graduate student and professional researchers. Achiever plus has expanded to promote memberships in our technical partner organizations to improve technical aptitude. This program offers both individual and group incentives that encourage the members to achieve, and achieve more abundantly. Community Outreach and Service Impacting the community is a pillar of the NSBE mission. With chapters around the world, opportunities to make a positive difference in communities across the globe are only an interest away. The Technical Outreach Community Help Program (T.O.R.C.H.) is leading the way to closing the digital divide. Special Interest Groups (SIGs) This program is in its pilot phase and has a promising future. SIGs are NSBE’s way to harness the power of and advance the knowledge and networks of our Technical Professional members. Advancement occurs via small groups of individuals dedicated to learning more about specific technical topics. These topics include but are not limited to: Nanotechnology, Space Exploration, Ergonomics and Manufacturing. Graduate students are also invited to participate in this program. SIGs will keep participants engaged and aware of changes and innovations in technology.
